Julia Konrad
Julia Konrad is a Brazilian actress, music artist and women's rights activist.
With strong ties to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she lived during her childhood and adolescence, Julia is a multi-faceted artist that transcends genres and styles. Since graduating from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, NY, in 2012, she carries in her work the essence of her latin background with a sophisticated and cosmopolitan world-view, transitioning seamlessly through languages as she pours her passion into acting and singing, while using her platform to give voice to sexual abuse survivors in Brazil.
As an actress, Julia has transitioned between languages and countries, and her acting credits include Netflix hit show "Invisible City", where she gives life to the environmentalist Gabriela, Amazon Prime Original Series "DOM" as Paloma, FOX LatAm's "1 Contra Todos" (One Against All), where she shines as Pepita, a Bolivian guerrillera; and Brazilian director Monique Gardenberg's tour de force "Paraíso Perdido" (Paradise Lost).
In 2020 Julia breaks through as one of the promises of the indie music scene in Brazil with two singles: "Vuelve", an Álmodovar-esque rendition of Johnny Hooker's acclaimed song "Volta"; and "Colores", her first collaboration with singer-songwriter and music producer Barro.
Also in 2020, Julia publicly spoke for the first time about being a survivor of sexual abuse, shedding light on marital rape in Brazil and starting a movement that gives voice to survivors. After her story was published in a leading women's publication in Brazil, Claudia magazine, other actresses came forward with their own stories of abuse, and the publication set up a permanent channel so that women everywhere could share their own experiences and get the legal and psychological support needed.
