Deja Monique Cruz
Deja Monique Cruz is an American actress born in Orange County and raised in Riverside, California. On screen, she's equal parts spunky, spirited, and strong. She can illuminate the scene as a lead or captivate her audience in a supporting role. She has always been interested in acting and singing. During her high school years she performed in many theatre productions, some of them include: 12 Angry Women, MacBeth, and Waiting for Godot.
Deja's film and television appearances include: Guest Star role on "Law & Order: SVU". Leading roles on a horror film "Manifest Evil", a summer adventure movie, "The Quest for Tom Sawyer's Gold" and a Netflix holiday Rom-Com "Christmas with you".
Deja's first television role booking was Lupe on NBC's "Law & Order: SVU". She was able to tell the story of a strong victim and be a voice for others in that situation, which made this role very special to her. While working along side the incomparable Mariska Hargitay in the episode named, "Murdered at a Bad Address" which was directed by Mike Smith and written by Denis Hamill.
She booked an Amazon horror film, "Manifest Evil" playing the role of Dawn. Best friends with her mother though her relationship with her father is lacking, while she hopes it will improve. Dawn is willing to take matters into her own hands to determine why her dad appears to be mentally and emotionally absent. "Manifest Evil" is directed by Jena Serbu and Written by Leon M Brown.
She booked an adventure movie "The Quest for Tom Sawyer's Gold" playing the role of Lu, a brain with a dream to be a filmmaker. Lu is always viewing the world through her video camera. "The Quest for Tom Sawyer's Gold" is directed by Kirk Harris and written by Nick Pollack. TBD on Disney/Hulu.
Deja booked a series regular role on Disney's "The Crossover" for the role of Maya. She is sharp as a tack, observant, perceptive, not afraid to speak her mind and is one of Filthy and JB's best friends. "The Crossover" is directed by George Tillman Jr. Written by Kwame Alexander & Damani Johnson. Executive producer is LeBron James.
Deja was able to encompass the persona of little "Cristina" in the Netflix holiday Rom-Com, "Christmas with you". Cristina idolizes Angelina, the singer whose music comforted her after the loss of her mother. She's beyond thrilled when Angelina, who has Cristina on an internet video, shows up on her doorstep. Being a triple threat; singing, dancing ,and acting her heart out as she told the story of this little fan. She learned a lot while working along side two incredibly talented actors Freddie Prinze Jr. and Aimee Garcia. "Christmas with you" is directed by Gabriela Tagliavini , written and produced by German Michael Torres.
She recently booked her first Voice-Over. She will be playing the role of "Flo" in "Carnival Jungle". Directed by Chuck Marra & Megan Foley-Marra and is written by Catherine Hammons.
