Jazz Vilá
Jazz Vila is an actor, theater director and playwright, born in Havana, Cuba, on August 21, 1984.
His latest works have been for television platforms in Spain such as Movistar + in the Skam series and with Netflix in the popular Paquita Salas.
He began his professional career at the age of 14 in the soap opera Las Huérfanas de la Obrapía. In 2004 he graduated from the prestigious School of Performing Arts in Cuba. Since then he has developed an extensive artistic career. He is the founder and CEO of Jazz Vila Projects. In 2015 Vistar magazine included him in the list of the six most active young actors of Cuban cinema.
His recognition has been due films like El Acompañante (Pavel Giroud), Fatima o el parque de la Fraternidad (Jorge Perugorria) Personal Belongings and Juan de los Muertos (Alejandro Brugués). His performance in the latter with the character of ''La China" has earned him the favor of critics, the public, the candidacy for the nomination of the Goya Awards (Spain) as "Best Beginner Actor" and a nomination as " Best Movie Actor " to the Shangay magazine award (Spain).
He has been invited to prestigious events such as the Avignon Festival (France) The Talent Corner of Young Actors at the Cannes Film Festival (France), the Talent Campus Guadalajara 2012 (Mexico) and the Berlinale Talent 2014 (Germany).
Soon it will premiere the historical drama Hotel Copelia by Dominican director Jose Maria Cabrales.
