Cooper van Grootel

Cooper van Grootel

Known for his breakout role as Nate Macauley in Peacock/Netflix's hit series One Of Us Is Lying, Cooper has been in the industry since a young age. Gaining his start on ABC series The Legend of Gavin Tanner, van Grootel enjoyed back to back key roles on major projects including ABC series Mystery Road with Oscar Nominee Judy Davis. He then went on to play bad boy 'Dean' in feature film Go Karts, continuing his run of delivering stand out performances and playing characters with an edge. Directed by multi-award-winning Owen Trevor, van Grootel played opposite Golden-Globe nominee Frances O'Conor and Moulin Rouge star Richard Roxburgh. He has since gone on to be cast in Snow Valley and One True Loves (starring Luke Bracey and Simu Liu). An actor with a grounded nature who is firmly focused on the craft, Cooper often comments that his acting interest was sparked by fascination with animated films, such as 'Coraline' and 'Toy Story' to name a few. Inspired by many actors who came before him, van Grootel points to how Heath Ledger is an inspiration. Ledger's journey from Perth boy to Hollywood star was one that Cooper always admired and believed if Heath could do it, so could he. Although based in LA Cooper looks forward to continuing working on exciting Australian projects like Savage River.
