Edwin was introduced to the world of acting when he was plopped in front of a television set as his constant babysitter. After all he's seen, he decided to pursue priesthood. During his service as a choirboy and altar boy, he met actor Steve McQueen while shooting "The Hunter" at his parochial school in Chicago. This profound meeting ignited his interest to pursue the arts. But, he decided to pursue medicine instead. It was until studying at the university that his counselor advised him that he'd take some elective courses to complete the units required to transfer to medical school.
