James trained at The Birmingham Theatre School and went on to perform in various theatre shows including playing the character of Ray in David Harrower's Blackbird. James has appeared in Carole Morley's Typist Artist Pirate King and Netflix's Shadow and Bone and won The Midlands Movie Awards 2020 for Best supporting actor for his role Agon in Shame my Name .
